You can customise your home and contents insurance by adding one or more of the following optional covers to your policies:

|Personal Effects Cover||Covers the portable items (e.g. jewellery, sunglasses, camera) you take with you away from your home.|
|Accidental Damage||Standard cover includes accidental damage to glass, ceramic and sanitary fixtures – this option extends your cover to most of your home and/or contents.|
|Motor Burnout||In case a power surge burns out a motor in an electrical appliance you own (less than 10 years old); we’ll also pay for related spoilage of food.|
|Landlord Covers||Protection if your tenant defaults on their rental payments and/or steals from or maliciously damages your investment property.|
|Sum Insured Safeguard||If your nominated sum insured is insufficient to repair, rebuild or replace your home building, we’ll increase it by 25% (e.g. from $400,000 to $500,000).|

How much cover do I need?
It’s up to you to determine how much it would cost to replace your home building and home contents if they were totally destroyed, for example, by fire – the ‘sum insured’.
This is the maximum amount we’ll pay, so it’s important you’re comfortable the sum insured you nominate is sufficient to replace your home and contents at today’s prices.

How to make a claim
If your home building and/or contents are lost, damaged or destroyed by an insured event and you need to claim, we’re here to help.
Repairs and replacements
Upon acceptance of your claim, we’ll appoint a team member to take care of the repairs to your home and/or the repair or replacement of your contents. In most cases, we will:
- assess the nature and extent of your damage or loss
- make your home safe (e.g. remove a fallen tree)
- source repair and replacement quotes from our preferred builders, suppliers and/or retailers
- appoint a building contractor to repair your home
- obtain – through the builder – all the materials needed for the repairs
- keep you informed of progress
- ensure repairs comply with the latest building codes
- arrange for the delivery of your replacement contents
- provide you with temporary accommodation, if necessary.

Do I need to list, or specify, contents on my policy?
It’s up to you to decide whether to list the following on your policy:
- contents you want to insure for more than our benefit limit (where applicable)
- portable items you want covered when you take them with you away from your home.
You can list your contents when you buy your policy or – if you’re an existing customer – by logging into your online account or contacting us.
If I make a claim for loss or damage to my home building and contents, will I have to pay two excesses?
No – you’ll only be required to pay the higher of the two Basic excesses you have selected.
What if I can’t stay in my home?
If the damage to your home makes it unfit to live in, we’ll arrange temporary accommodation for your family and household pets while your home is being repaired, for up to 12 months.
The temporary accommodation will be of a similar quality to your home.
This benefit also applies if the loss or damage to your contents makes your home unliveable.
Are your home repairs guaranteed?
Yes – we guarantee the quality of authorised repairs, including the workmanship and materials.
